The author has also included several 'horror' stories about clients and depositions, plus 'how to spot a new attorney,' and other colorful information not usually included in a dry, straight-laced instructional book about some aspect of law. This is the perfect book for any lawyer to have his or her client read before being deposed.

This book provides some excellent discussion and examples of how to follow the basic rules for testifying at a deposition: (1) tell the truth; (2) answer only the question asked, and be brief about it.These rules seem simple and seemingly easy to follow. The book provides good illustrative examples of how witnesses commonly violate them. Hopefully you can learn from the mistakes of others.I think the author unnecessarily throws in too many of his own old "war stories." Though entertaining, they aren't always helpful. His discussion about the duties and statutes applying to court reporters seems to serve no purpose. His occasional advice to attorneys seems out-of-place. Though short, this book could be shorter and just as effective. Overall, however, this book has much to offer as an educational tool for a deposition witness.
